Frequently asked questions about Flagdle

Here you'll find answers to the most common questions about Flagdle, its rules, its game modes and how it works.

What is Flagdle?

Flagdle is a daily flag guessing game inspired by Wordle. Each day, a country flag hidden behind 9 tiles is offered to every player, and you get 3 tries to identify the country.

How do I play Flagdle?

You see a partially masked flag. Type a country name in the search field: if correct you win, otherwise new tiles are revealed and you have 1 or 2 tries left.

Is the flag the same for everyone?

Yes. The daily flag is determined by the date and identical for every player worldwide. That is what lets you compare scores with your friends.

When does a new flag drop?

A new flag is available every day at midnight in your local timezone. The daily challenge and quizzes refresh at the same time.

Do I need an account to play?

No. Flagdle is completely free, ad-free, and runs directly in your browser. Your stats are stored locally — no data is sent to a server.

How many countries are covered?

Flagdle covers the 195 UN-recognised countries, with their official flag, capital and continent. Country names are available in French and English.

What are the game modes?

Six modes: Flags, Capitals, Hints, Worldle (silhouette), Daily Challenge (6 chained mini-games) and Themed Quiz. Each has its own daily puzzle.

Can I replay after finishing?

Yes. After the daily flag, switch to replay mode and practise on a random different flag. Useful to improve without waiting for tomorrow.

Is Flagdle the same as Flagle?

No. Flagdle (with a D) and Flagle (no D) are two independent games. Flagdle uses the 9-tile reveal system across 3 tries and offers 5 other modes.

How is it different from Worldle?

Worldle uses a country silhouette with distance and direction. Flagdle offers its own Worldle mode, but the main mode relies on a flag that reveals itself progressively.

How does Flagdle pick the daily country?

The daily country is determined by a date-based hash: every player gets the same country on a given day. Modes use different seeds so one mode doesn't spoil another.

How do I share my result?

After each game, a Share button copies an emoji recap to your clipboard. Paste it in WhatsApp, X, Discord, etc. without spoiling the answer.

Why did my stats disappear?

Your stats live in your browser's localStorage. Clearing your cache, using another browser, or private browsing resets them.

Is there a mobile app?

Flagdle is a responsive web-app. You can install it like an app via your browser's "Add to home screen" option (PWA), without going through an app store.

Is there a leaderboard?

Yes. The daily, weekly and monthly leaderboard tracks Daily Challenge scores. Pick a nickname and compare your performance with the community.

How do I change the language?

Flagdle is available in French and English. Use the language switcher in the header, or change the URL: /fr for French, /en for English.

Why isn't a specific country accepted?

Input is accent-tolerant and offers suggestions. If a name isn't recognised, pick a suggestion from the list: only official names from our 195-country list are accepted.

Is Flagdle used in classrooms?

Yes, several teachers use it as a 5-minute daily ritual to help memorise flags and capitals. The short format makes it ideal at the start or end of class.

Are there ads?

Flagdle is ad-free in the intrusive sense. No pop-ups, no forced videos, no advertising tracking.
